ELISE SMIDT
Talks
I love sharing my little bits of knowledge with students and junior creatives, and have organised and held several talks over the past years. I also participate in the weekly Online Video Crits with Young Creative Council.

Young Creative Council

Every junior creative out there knows the feeling: you’re working on a project, trying to come up with genius ideas, but everything you scamp up just seem quite shit. You compare all this to the award-winning work of industry legends and think: how will I ever be as good as them?

My old creative partner Karina and I organised a talk, From Shit to Shit-Hot, where inspiring creatives Scarlett Montanaro, Stu Outhwaite-Noel, Jo Wallace, and Jose Miguel Sokoloff explained that even they had to start somewhere back in the day, and that it’s completely normal to feel like you’re shit once in a while. It’s the talk we wish we attended when we were desperately looking for a job. Around 100 young creatives showed up to the MullenLowe office for the 3-hour event.

New Blood Academy 2019

We were asked to be speakers at this year's D&AD Academy. We gave a 40-minute talk called "World domination 101" where we shared all our little tips on how to get an internship, and eventually a job as Advertising Creatives.

Edinburgh Napier University

Karina and I took over Napier's MSc Creative Advertising class for a day, giving them a live brief to brainstorm on and telling them all about our experience. They were all exhausted after 5 hours of an intense crash course and listening to our rambles. I've been asked to do a couple more (online) talks for Napier since then and I mentor a couple of their students as well.
